- Promising nose, dissappointing on the pallet, lightly bodied & short. Exclusively a table wine.
- The first impressions of Piccini Memoro are how port-like it is. A deep, deep ruby colour and dark cherry aroma. It seems quite viscous too – not surprising at 14% alcohol. not as sweet as a typical port.It may look ‘big’ in the glass, but I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and almost sophisticated it was to taste. There were no shouty tannins it was velvety, medium bodied and again fruity. I tasted dried black cherries and prunes with a little bit of spicy-smokeyness too. The fruity flavours lingered in the mouth – and pleasantly so. Truly Italian.
- Fantastic full bodied Italian from Tesco. Robust tobacco, chocolate and soft tannins. Was on offer for less than €10.
