Very dark ruby, with slight pinkish rim. Currants, licorice, fresh mint, caramelized cherry, coffee bean, blueberry. Medium bodied, a bit extracted it seems, ripe, almost too ripe, sense of bitterness near the end. Licorice, cherry, coffee, ash smoke, a bit of herbal tone. Where's the tannins? All resolved? Lacking a solid structure. At least not very acidic Need air time, austere up front, bitterness is apparent.

Ruby core with pinkish rim. Good nose with coffee, mineral tone, flowers, currants, incense, tobacco in the background. Palate with red fruits, licorice, hint of mushroom. Tannins seem very much resolved, and making the acidity stand out, almost like a plum has turned sour type. Faint cigar note at the finish, very short. Seems like passed the peak already. Medium bodied, very easy drink, pass its prime, quite ordinary now

Ruby red with some browning near the rim. Graphite, currants, red fruit, coffee, creamy cassis, florals, very savory, great nose. Plum juicy, tobacco, red cherry, brilliant secondary nuances. Round, silky texture. Soft tannins, so smooth, juicy. Excellent finish with length, dried fruits, smoke and wood.

Solid dark core with ruby red rim. Enchanting nose with great terroir scents, graphite, black currants, autumn leaf, hint of green, magnetic feel. Masculine mouth feel, good balance as always. Dry leather, sweet red fruits, pipe tobacco, stone, minerals. Tannins a bit dry and edgy, can still age. Good finish of cigar box, dried fruits.
  • Chateau Kirwan 2003 one year ago Chateau Kirwan 2003
Clear ruby red. Ripe berries, espresso bean, incense, mushroom, mint and some oak. Medium bodied, soft, plush mouth feel, black fruits, forest floor, concentrated plum juice. Soft tannins, noticeable, but round and well integrated. Some bitter cocoa bean in the back end, smoke, oak, red cherry finish. Medium finish. Still quite fruity, fwd, but pleasant

Young, dark core with ruby rim. Medium plus bodies. Fresh, energetic aromas of purple fruits, flowers, sweet ripe currants, licorice, oak, mint, incense, crushed tobacco leaf. Very nice. Plum sauce, tobacco, licorice, blackberry, forest floor, orange zest. A bit tight, coaxing for aromas. On the palate, muddy notes. Wall of tannins, somewhat dry and edgy, not very smooth or balanced. Explosive tannins, firm Sense of bitterness towards the back end, not very enjoyable. Strong, masculine structure, unyielding

Dark as midnight sky, inky black. Long slow legs. Scents of dark ripe berries, a bit over extracted it seems, bitter chocolate, herbaceous, anise, cherry candy. Powerful, strong. Quite bitter actually, herbal, too primary, not everything in harmony. Over extracted feel, medium bodied. Alcohol is masked quite well. Good score for the price. Give it a good decant. Sweet ripe berries, stone, violet, incense, interesting nose. Taste of currants, ripe berries, hint of iodine. Better with air time. Tannins on the light side, must day alcohol is very well hidden. Finish of currants, oaky smoke. Smooth, quite silky. Good value.

Opaque, dark crimson red with slight pinkish rim. Long legs. Expressive nose, wow, dark fruits, licorice, incense, meat juice, flowers and stone. palate is a bit closed initially. Note of red cherry liqueur, faint dry leather. Heat is quite strong, and seems slightly overpowering other scents. Very intriguing scents, but taste note doesn't seem to back it up.sufficiently. Tannins are noticeable and dry. Acidity is slightly high, though not overly done. Finish with ripe plum juice, smoke and dried wood. Lacking complexity, the wine can probably age more, hopefully can get better. Although balance of the wine may suggest that not a whole lot of evolution there will be.

Beautiful dark ruby red, with charming nose of lead pencil shaving, oak, earth, purple.fruits, licorice, cigar wrapper, very sharp. Black currants, Can still use some time, a bit tight on the palate starting out. Funky black fruits, chocolate, minerals, burned vanilla, spice. Still have tannins, very fine and sweet. Finish with.sweet plum, tobacco leaf, spice. Medium length. Classic, rich mouthfeel. Solid structure, very nice balance. Close to full bodied. Smooth on.the palate. With good complexity, the tannins actually very intriguing!

Ruby red with.dark purple core. Smooth nose of currants, spice, rose, cream, cloves, vanilla, a bit of autumn leaf. Soft, elegant touch on the palate, oak, wet earth, red cherry, ripe berries. Young, dark purple color, with some green notes, very primary. Medium to full bodied. Rustic, green pepper, sweet currants, wet wood, mild chili spice. Juicy attack on the palate, as much as u want pick out the tasting note, u can't ignore the tannins, which comes in loads. Granted the tannins are firm but round, tasty. Can definitely see.the potential, but right now an odd period, or need a good decant to make it show. With time, fresh currants, plum juice, cassis, mushroom, purple room, minerals, earth, bit of cream. Taste of cigar, berries, vanilla, oak, ripe, juicy mouth feel. A bit.of chocolate Medium finish with tobacco leaf and oak.

Dark red with pink rim. Ripe berries, cherry liqueur, stone, incense and herbs and a hint of cinnamon, interesting but short on the nose. Medium bodied, distinctive taste of ripe currants, licorice, raspberry, tea leaf, not a lot of secondary nuances. Tannic, but no hard edges, with some warmth in the finish, plum and hint of tobacco smoke.
  • Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac 2002 one year ago Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac 2002
Dark ruby red, almost purple color. Complex nose of currants, pencil lead, cassis, cream, violet, got some strong herbaceous scents in the beginning, but with more aeration, it subsided quite a bit, and added dark chocolate, rust. medium plus bodied, note of smoke, earth, black and purple fruits, green pepper, mushroom, though not truly balanced. Very firm, yet dry tannins, not smooth enough mouth feel, lacking the harmony. Finish of smoke, espresso bean and spice. Got a bit warmth in the finish. Few more years in cellar needed it seems.

2004. Purple color. Nose of floral, potpourri, violet, blackberry, cloves, wet earth, cherry liqueur, vanilla, burned leather, minerals and mint after more air time. Palate, sweet cherry, truffle, black fruits, dark chocolate, tobacco, tea leaf. Round, lush, yet prominent, chewy tannins, wonderful structure, with just right acidity balancing out. Long Finish with dark cocoa, espresso, tobacco and smoke. Still can age gracefully

1999. Clear ruby red with long seductive legs. Nose of purple fruits, forest floor, vanilla, a little oak, cherry, incense, fresh spring floral, a bit of cigar. Palate, medium bodied, soft texture, round, truffle, blackberry, cassis, earth, tobacco. Still need time. With time, leather, truffle and round tannins adding a beautiful weight to the structure. Like a sweet girl from next.door type haha Finish of cigar pipe, smoke, wood.

No sign of aging. Dark ruby red with no Browning, pristine condition. Fantastic nose of violet, roasted candied cherry, purple and red fruits, meat, cassis liqueur, with a addictive mineral, floral. Medium plus body, cassis, plum, leather, burned wood, minerals. Rich, lush mouth feel, with noticeable, juicy tannins, silky. Nice finish of burned wood, plum juice, hint of tobacco leaf. Fantastic! Nose is true to die for Another sign of good aging, fruit taste still ample =) Very nice balance, acidity and the alcohol. Can still age, fabulous structure

Quite young, crimson color. Blue fruit, stone, white flowers, wet earth, ripe plum, soy, iron mineral, green note. Lacking balance, quite acidic than expected, not much fruit, and seems tannins are quite resolved, soy, red cherry, bell chili. Medium bodied. Short finish with plum juice, tiny bit of smoke, with heat. Day 3, graphite, truffle on palate. Smell of rustic. Better, with firm tannins, better structure. Masculine Margaux
