Ruby red and medium bodied. Nose of red fruits, graphite, crushed stone. Taste kinda light, with soft tannins, dry. Similar note on palate, cassis liqueur, graphite and smoke, short on structure and blurry taste. Short finish. Seems lacking a clear identity. Finally opened after 1.5 hour in the decanter, mineral nose with spice, currants. Softer tannin, still dry though.

Dark red, with slight Browning at the rim. Full bodied. Currants, dark fruits, licorice, cocoa, minerals, touch of herbs quite nice, though not crisp. Taste of cigar wrapper, smoke, coffee bean, with a drop of oak. Nice nose, though short. Tannins still apparent and dry. Acidity is low, couldn't mask the alcohol that well, even low level 12.5%. Structure is solid, lacking a good balance. Finish of smoke, bitter dark cocoa. Short unfortunately

Nose is actually kinda low key, with only cream and sweetness, star fruit?? Close to full bodied. Extremely smooth, very ripe, but not over the top. Sugar coated cherry, orange zest, anise. Super smooth, great structure as always. Syrupy With time and air, nose of black currant, licorice coming out. Super tasty, chewy tannins, no hard edges at all for a young wine. Medium to full bodied Finish is decent, with vanilla note and light tea leaf The high alcohol level is masterfully hidden, brilliant. Slowly, developed iron, mineral nose

Dark ruby red, appear still quite youthful, with clear scents of cassis, green pepper, earth, pencil lead, Asian spice, vanilla on the nose. Fantastic. Although fruit smell goes quite fast. Palate wise, lighter than the nose scents, gentle and smooth, plum, tobacco leaf, brunt cherry notes. Softened tannins, thou it's present can be felt gracefully, very tasty. Finish with tobacco and marmalade, medium finish, quite nice. Medium to full bodied. Second glass, brilliant, with chocolate, cigar box taste. Kept evolving, really nice treat. Tasty secondary scents, cocoa, tobacco, burnt leather, slight bitterness. Lingers. Treat! Pristine condition

Clear red, light bodied. Full of herbs, wet earth, anise, smoke, meat. Taste of red cherry, quite spicey, wood. Strong taste, full of red fruits, chalk. Smooth, herbal, tobacco finish, decent length. Strong grip on the palate, long staying strength. Yummy

Beautiful ruby red, almost purple in color. Nose of vanilla, oak, blueberry, licorice, crushed stone. Smooth on the palate, though more tannic than the 08. Plum, tannic is very grippy and a bit overpowering, light strawberry. Evolved with some Smokey finish. Yet still very tannic. Nice structure, lacking the balance it seems from the 08. Later with graphite, slight leather. Great nose.

Dark purple, opaque, mid night darkness. Strong nose of currants, violet, blueberry, black fruits, meat, nut, barnyard. Medium to full bodied. Grippy tannins. Notes on palate lacks structure and balance or complexity. Plum, oak, rather plain, lacking excitement. As a whole, lacking surprises.

Dark ruby red. Nose of sharp currants, crushed grass, licorice, layers and layers of berries, complex, even a bit of florals, meat juice. Wow, speechless, brilliant palate, with full attack of ripe fruits, fresh herbs. Great structure. Kinda short finish though

Purple color, with beautiful legs. Pure and sharp nose of earth, currants, licorice, crushed stone, bit of ham. Silk, dense, plush, wow, wonderful balance, layers of black fruits, cigar wrapper, and coffee bean, above the chewy tasty tannins. Wonderful finish of crisp smoke, fruits and jam. Almost full bodied, just want to keep having it coast ur mouth, delicious. Very rich with sweet, ripe berries

Rudy red, clear and pure. Berry, currants, floral, licorice, spice, anise, tea, hint of mint. Medium bodied, Coffee, cocoa powder, herb, soft tannins, good acidity, uplifting. Over 70% carbinet franc, different, light and fresh, like ballet dancing. Decent finish with light smoke and cherry. With an hour in the glass, cream

Dark brick red color, with slight browning near the rim. Nice bouquet of ripe cherries, violet, burnt leather, chili spice, graphite, coffee bean. Medium bodied, dark chocolate, jam, tobacco, tea leaf, tannins have soften, yet giving just a good touch to the mouth feel. Very smooth, pure on the palate, nice length on the finish.

Not properly stored, broken cork. Look of a 30 year's old wine, dark brick red. Not very aromatic, Smell of smoked cherry, old leather, licorice, espresso bean, a slight nite of menthol. Light and simple on palate, with black currants, light cigar ash, chopped wood, wet earth and oak, bitter chocolate. Short to medium finish with smoke, tobacco, with soft tannin but not very ripe. Overall structure is thin. 88 pt

Aerated for four hours, no decanting. Dark crimson color, medium bodied. Seductive aromatics of black fruits, freshly picked berries, truffle and mocha and florals, quite feminine, like a lady throwing u smile type. Taste is a bit lighter, with cherry, plum, jasmine tea leaf, tasty but firm tannins, and smoky finish of tobacco. Finish a bit short. After close to six hours with air, beautiful bouquet, layers of flowers, and on palate sweetness of berry is enticing

Purple, dark ruby, medium bodied. Nose of violet, bacon fat, mushroom, leather, vanilla, good nose, with layers of black fruits. Licorice, wet earth, truffle, wood, spice. Tannins seem to have softened quite well, soft and smooth on the palate. Short finishing though.

Dark Rudy red, opaque, full bodied. Rich nose of wet earth, graphite, leather, lead pencil. Feeling the finish down the throat. Soft, plush, lush on the palate, same notes on taste with layers of spring floral and fruits, licorice, with traces of oak and smoked ham, very balanced and smooth. A little heated finish, good depth.

Purple color, opaque, full body hulk. Nose of butter, licorice, crushed sugar, raspberry, bacon. Still tight. Need a bit more aeration. Aired for over two hours, more revealing. Taste of blackberry, leather, iron, cigar box. Silky, lush on the palate, though good finish, about 30+ secs with plum and tobacco. Still tannic but chewy, can wait some more time to add more complexity. Nose is fatter than on the palate. Add some tobacco, blueberry, black fruits, licorice. After 3-4 hours, sweet tannin, quite well integrated. delicious
  • Chateau Phelan Segur Saint Estephe 2000 one year ago Chateau Phelan Segur Saint Estephe 2000
Nose of iron, licorice, vanilla, black currant, blueberry, fresh florals, hint of mint and tomato, closed but seductive aromas. Dark dark ruby color, medium to full bodied. Aerated for over an hour, poured into glass and sat for another 30 mins, doesn't seem wanting to reveal too much. Earth, licorice, cherry, rather firm tannin showing near the mid palate, nicely balanced with tobacco, black fruit finishing. More showing after a long evening, smell of violet, plum, licorice, chewy, velvety palate, still young it seems. Won't be a spectacular wine, but a nice drinking experience nevertheless.
  • Le Serre Nuove Dell Ornellaia 2008 one year ago Le Serre Nuove Dell Ornellaia 2008
Quite a nice nose, with creme, black cherry, licorice, grass, caramel, yet a hint alcohol towards the end. Almost a salty first attack, licorice, red cherry, oak, orange, hint of mint and bacon. Quite well structured, with acidity, tannin has softened already, should be drunk now. High alcohol isn't overpowering, decent finishing. Rudy red with a slight browning on the rim.

Smell of sweet chili, salted caramel, cream brulee, sour apple, cigar, vanilla, gruava, short nose. Taste of tobacco, vanilla, spice, mushroom. Good tannin, not too hard. Dark red, opaque color, close to full body. As a pure cabs, quite easy on the palate, not too powerful, decent silky finish, with a bit of heat. Decent length on finishing. Seems not really build to last, fruit taste vanished rather quickly.
