Chronic Cellars. Sofa King Bueno 2010. Big, bright and sweet smelling on the nose. Immediately ripe fruit followed by enough acidity, and ending with medium tannins to create full mouth feel . A big, but well-balanced fruit bomb. 88.

Ilaria Malbec 2010
A beautifully deep ruby, almost inky hue. Cherry and mild oak on the nose. Subtle Subtle dark fruit, followed by mild acid and some lingering tannins. A medium bodied, enjoyable wine. Tiny production. 85.

Coho Napa Valley Red Wine 2009
Deep ruby with smoky, earthy aromas. Cherry up front followed by more pronounced oaky notes and light acid. Tannins lightly pronounced on finish. All blends together nicely, but possibly overoaked; not my preferred style. 83.

Thacher 2008 Syrah Paso Robles. Fruity and less complex than the 2009. Enjoyable, but not more than once 82.

Acacia Pinot Noir
2011 A by Acacia Pinot. Earthy pinot aroma but bright accessible fruit followed by a long acid feel in the mouth making this thoroughly enjoyable. Not a traditionally light Pinot. 84.

Ancient Peaks 2010 Zinfandel. A classic Zin with accessible dark fruit (blackberry) immediately. Fruit forward without being a fruit bomb. Long acid finish. Not for special occasions but too nice for everyday. 83

Smoky on the nose and some dark berry/cherry flavors. Fairly full. Fine for every day. 81.

Thacher 2010 Vin Rouge. Syrah 71% / Grenache 29%. A thoughtful blend. Both earthy and fruity with dark fruits and deep dark color. Long finish from the Syrah with peppery notes. 88.

Ancient Peaks Petit Verdot 2009. Huge and juicy. Big tannins and long acid finish. Full mouth feel. Wonderful, but big and best with food. 91.

Hearst Ranch 2009
Aromas of guava. Smooth and creamy up front representing the Rousanne/ Marsanne followed by a tangy finish with lingering acidity from the Viognier. Melon up front. Nicely balanced. 88.

Zinopolis Zinfandel California 2010
Subdued aromas and masked fruit showing a mild sweetness that impresses on the end with some lasting acidity. A wine for the background. Nothing offensive, a little generic. Not obviously a Zin. 81.

Cherry fruit forward, soft tannins with a mild lingering acidity. Would like fuller mouth feel, but pleasant and enjoyable. 83

Golden hue. Aromatic. Soft and buttery. Lingering citrus. Very nice and casual, but probably better with food. 84.

Full mouth feel. Some plums on the front with bigger acidity ans notable yet slightly softer tannins. A nice balance. Would like stronger flavor up front. 82

A very light, easy drinking white. Subtle aroma and taste of melon. Reminiscent of rousanne/marsanne. Some mineral on the finish and lingering sweetness. 82.
